    • HELPING KEY EXECUTIVES RAPIDLY MOVE ON TO NEXT ASSIGNMENTS

Our commitment is to work with clients in helping them successfully create and implement the next assignment in their professional lives. We do not ask, “What kind of job do you want next?” We do ask, “What kind of life do you want to lead and how does the next assignment fit into your life plans?”

These new assignments can include full time employment, consulting, buying a business, or creating a professional mosaic that includes a variety of activities. Central to our work is helping clients position themselves at Board levels.

There are three broad phases of our work.

In the STRATEGY SETTING phase, we work with clients to help them identify primary, secondary, and fall-back objectives. These objectives involve integrating personal/family values, financial resources, and family responsibilities. The resources of financial planners, psychologists, and consultants are combined to put together this plan. We can and do make visits to clients’ homes to meet with the entire family.  Stybel Peabody Lincolnshire has a Family Goal Setting ProgramÔ to help the family establish priorities.

In the IMPLEMENTATION phase, we become our clients’ campaign managers. The campaign is organized around a compelling theme and we provide a full range of resources to assist. These resources include regular meetings with the consultant that the client has selected, consultation with professional theater director on presentation issues, active involvement in linking clients with opportunities, group meetings, etc.

The last phase of the “out” component of an assignment cycle is the “in” component.  In the FOLLOW-UP phase, we provide a structured coaching program called The First One Hundred Days to assist the integration of clients into the new assignment.  After the first one hundred days, we continue to maintain active contact with clients on an as-needed basis for up to one year. Beyond the one-year anniversary, clients become Stybel Peabody Lincolnshire alumni. Alumni continue to be invited to our twice-monthly seminars, alumni programs, etc.

    • VALUED EXECUTIVE COACHING

Valued Executive Coaching is the “up” part of the Senior Executive Assignment CycleÔ. Companies retain us provide their valued executives with a unique relationship: we are committed to our clients’ professional success, understand the dynamics of the sponsoring organization, and keep our discussions confidential. At the same time, the goal of our program is to produce meaningful, sustainable behavioral change.

PSYCHOLOGY TODAY has profiled our coaching work. The Stybel Peabody Lincolnshire approach to coaching is informed by our consultants being senior line executives and Board members. Most of our consultants have received formal training in organization development methodology and perspectives. We also employ professional theater directors to assist clients in making presentations.

Because we know how to work well with extraordinarily bright people, we can do more to achieve long-term behavioral change than traditional management development programs.

    • RETAINED SEARCH

Because of our Board of Directors perspective and network, our typical assignment will focus on finding external Board members or CEOs. We are a Boston based boutique with global resources at 113 offices.

Traditional retained search believes that if you hire the right person, things will spontaneously work out for the best. We respectfully disagree with this traditional wisdom. Traditional retained search only deals with the “in” phase of the assignment cycle. Because we deal with all the phases of the Senior Executive Assignment CycleÔ, we get to talk to all parties in a failed senior level relationship. We have come to believe that the first one hundred days of the new job are critical for future success.

Structure the first one hundred days well, and the new executive has something to build on. Fail in the first one hundred days, and the new executive will be playing defensively for the rest of the assignment. The first one hundred days can be actively structured and managed. Companies may have the internal talent to provide active on-going management during this critical period. But they often lack the time to focus on the critical issue of integration management.
