IMPACT Services…From our Lost Charge Recovery and Compliance chart reviews to Defense Audit services, IMPACT provides our customers with a blend of compliance and reimbursement services that meet the challenges of today’s healthcare environment.  

Ø      Lost Charge Recovery and Compliance Review features on-site Nurse Analysts who perform daily cover-to-cover reviews of the medical record and comparison to the preliminary bill. IMPACT Analysts identify undercharges, overcharges and unbilled charges, and then correct the bill prior to dropping to the carrier. 

      From commercial accounts to Medicare claims, IMPACT's review program provides an independent third party review of claims prior to billing, meets corporate compliance guidelines and assists hospitals with capturing additional revenue through clean and accurate billing.

Ø      Charge Capture & Compliance Assessment is designed to assist hospitals in determining how well their internal charge capture program is working. One of IMPACT’s Corporate Nurse Auditors spends 1 to 2 weeks at the hospital reviewing a statistically significant sample of bills from a designated time period, then provides a written report on any issues or problems with the bills, as well as recommendations on how to solve the problems. Equally important, we will tell you if you are not experiencing billing compliance problems. This service can be done anywhere from once per year, to quarterly, depending on the issues facing your facility.  

Ø      Defense Audit Services further complement our programs, by assisting hospitals whenever a commercial payor requests an audit of a patient bill. IMPACT’s Defense Auditors are some of the best in the business, having the expertise to ensure that our clients are treated fairly by the payor, receive proper reimbursement on these accounts and avoid costly refunds that may be unnecessary. We perform a thorough review of the bill in question and then act on behalf of the hospital in all communications with the insurance company’s auditor until the bill is resolved.  

IMPACT results…Over the last 12 years, the benefits of IMPACT’s charge capture services are realized in bottom-line results to the hospital. Last year alone, IMPACT analysts reviewed almost 100,000 charts totaling over $400 million in total charges. We identified an average of $326 per patient in additional revenue on nearly half of the bills reviewed, and we prevented overcharges of approximately $150 per patient.
